Do you need a couple hundred dollars in a hurry? Plz read!

I recently ran across a non-profit organization in our area that does a version of "payday loans" that can work out to a zero cost/fee/interest in 2 different ways.

First, if you need the loan for a truly short period, they will make a loan of up to $500 for up to 13 days with no costs whatsoever.

Second, if you need the money for longer than 13 days, they set you up on a payday-based repayment schedule with an extra $12/week in "membership fees". However, once you pay back the loan they can help you build up a nest egg to not need them again, and while you're building that nest egg, there is no longer a membership fee and the fees you already paid are refunded at a rate of $4/week. Build your nest egg long enough, and you get back every penny.

I know it sounds too good to be true. That there must be a catch. How can they possibly make any money to cover their expenses?

Well, I thought the same thing and there ARE two "catches". But if you understand them, and play by the rules laid out, you WILL get back every penny, just like I said above.

The most obvious catch is if you leave the program before getting the entire amount of your membership fees refunded, you forfeit the rest. (This only applies if you keep the money for more than 13 days.)

The second catch is more hidden. There is an "initiation fee" based on the amount you borrow, but it only has to be paid IF you leave the program in less than a year. (Again, this only applies if you keep the money more than 13 days.)

Depending on how much you borrow, you'll repay the loan in about 4-5 months and you will start building your nest egg after that. If you participate for 1 year to avoid the initiation fee, the remaining 7-8 months will recoup 1/2 to 2/3 of your membership fees.

Repay your loan in 3 months ($12*13 weeks = $156. $4*39 weeks = $156 also. Every penny paid back!) or, stick around a few months longer (4 mo payoff of loan would be $12*17 = $204. $4*51 = $204, 15-1/2 months total. Every penny paid back!). Either way, you borrow the money up front, pay it back, build a nest egg, and have all costs incurred along the way paid back to you.

It really IS that simple!

Interested, contact http://borrow4free.org for all the details. You can get the money in as little as 1-2 business days.

Suggestions for Pittsburgh Furmeets

I'm seeking suggestions for furmeets to plan over the course of 2012. Already on the agenda is the Post-New Year Pajama Party, and there will be at least one ice skating meet (indoors, this time). But I'd love for some suggestions on events that YOU would love to attend! Suggestions can be as wild and crazy as you'd like, but keep in mind that some of the Pittsburgh furs don't have access to cars and/or a lot of extra cash. Cheap (free!) and busable will be more beneficial to the community as a whole.

This is also posted on PA-Furry.org.

Christmas parade in Wampum PA

I would like to take this time to thank those who participated in this years parade, it was a great time for those involved and for those who watched the parade from the sides.
the time after the parade entertaining the kids as they waiting for Santa was indeed a really good time, we have been invited back again next year. After wards we had dinner at the local diner, and we had a good time relaxing there with good food and great friends.
Over all it was a fantastic time and the parade officials can't wait for us to return again next year.
Again I can't thank those enough who participated in this years parade :)

Great big Hugs to you all

NoobMutt

Looking for any housing recommendations...

Hello,
My boyfriend and I have lived east of Pittsburgh (in Monroeville and Apollo) for years. Due to both of us having new jobs in the Robinson area that is rather south/west of Pittsburgh, we are looking to move.

We are getting ideas from co-workers, online and apartment advertisements, and I thought of this group. If anyone in this group lives in the Robinson area or within close driving distance to the Robinson area, can you recommend any apartment complexes or know of any apartments for rent that we should check out? We prefer pet-friendly, I have 2 bunnies and a few gerbils. (no free-range pets though so some "no pets" places are ok with them because no-pets often applies to dogs/cats only)

Anyway, I will check this message for replies, please leave any messages here or send me a private message through LJ with any info. Any replies and information will be very much appreciated!

Pittsburgh Ice Skating Meet Dec 9, 2011

Important Info
Date: December 9th, 2011
Time: 7pm-whenever
Location: 26th and Sidney Streets on the South Side (accessible by the 48 bus)
Costs: Admission is $7 for adults and $6 for children and seniors. Skate rental is $3

For any Pittsburgh fur not in the know, Highmark and the Pittsburgh Penguins are setting up an outdoor ice skating rink at the South Side Works (26th and Sidney). As noted on the website, "The Penguins operated an outdoor rink for 10 days at last year’s NHL Winter Classic on the North Shore and the facility was so popular the team decided to make it an annual winter fixture." So they're looking to make this a permanent fixture on the South Side, and given its accessibility, it seems like a great opportunity to get together and enjoy the wonders of outdoor skating rinks!

As far as I know, you should be able to come and hang out with everyone, even if you don't want to skate. My brother and I popped in to check out the skating rink at the Winter Classic and we were able to go right up to the ice without issue.

The event can also be found on the PA Furries board here.

Dunno how long it'll be before he's up, about, and ready to socialize but I'd like to be able to introduce him to y'all (not to mention meet you myself).

So, I know the monthly meet is tomorrow night, but we probably won't make it this month. What else?

Anybody interested in just hooking up for lunch or something?

Job openings: morning and evening hotel shuttle driver in Robinson

http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/trp/2405681774.html

This is the hotel I work for. We are looking for a couple of safe drivers to shuttle guests to and from the facility and the airport.

One of those positions will be the one I currently occupy. You see, I am trying to change my status to standby/on-call for emergencies so I can explore new opportunities, but can't do that until my boss lines up my replacement. Seems as if the recovering economy has sucked up all the qualified candidates leaving us high and dry. I find this ironic since it's THE best paying hourly position (only salaried managers earn more) but one of the hardest ones to keep filled. Go figure.

The pay is $8.25 an hour plus tips; I average $12-$14 an hour at the end of the week. I come home with cash every day; sometimes it's $10, more often it's $40 or more (made $100 two nights ago), and getting consistently better as the season wears on. Your results will depend on how customer-oriented you are. The vast majority of the time you will be driving, but you will be expected to earn your keep during downtimes doing back-of-house duties.

So if you have a reasonably decent driving record, a customer service streak, and willingness to HUSTLE, drop my boss a line and tell them Cheyenne sent you.

P.S. If she asks, tell her we know each other through a "network of artists" we share. They are NOT furry aware.

Looking to move to Pittsburgh!

Hello all!

I'm a 22-year-old art school graduate with the intention of moving to the Pittsburgh area, possibly seeking a roommate! I am trying to convince some of my friends from school to move with me, but as they are all unsure as of yet on the job side of things none of them can presently commit to the idea.

In the interest of exploring other options, I was wondering if anyone here either had space for a new roommate or was also looking to move to the area. I'm friendly, clean (other than perhaps the occasional escape of foam and fur from making suits XD), and capable of paying my portion of living expenses. I'd be looking to move around mid-June. Poke me here or shoot an email to redtavern[at]gmail.com if you're curious and would possibly like me as a roommate!

Kennywood Trip

Its that time again, Kennywood's open and we are planning on making a trip to the park with furs just to chill and hang out. After talking on the PA furry website we've decided July 20th would be the best date. We'd like to meet up at 11am at the front fountain. We've decided not to do a group ticket rate this year but if we get positive buzz, we may try for a large group and pavillion next year. Tickets at the gate are 36.99 plus an amusement park tax, but local Giant Eagle's sell for 25.99. The park also offers night riders for anyone who wants to come late, after 5pm, for 21.99. You don't have to stay with the group but we just want to see how many furs we can get to go. Thanks.

Searching for a roomate in the new brighton/beaver falls area

In June our roomate Mikey is heading back to his parents to help his mom out so we're in a bit of a jam when it comes to income as I'm not sure Fortunefox and I can handle it. Split three ways the rent is about 125$ and the utilities round about 125$ to alittle more during the winter months. We're along a bus line and we both have vehicles to help get someone around when one of us is not working.

Currently Mikey has taken over the living room for his room since it's the largest in the house but we have a two bedroom apartment so we're willing to clean out the things from the art/computer room for someone and turn the living room into a new art/computer room as Fortune and I share a room for sleeping. Also with the hours Fortune works there is usually someone up (or at work) most of the time if a shopping run or somesuch needs to get done.

I provide the face for taking care of the bills and have never been late with them once. If your interested please contact me at kitsunez@yahoo.com for further information.

Fur Affinity United Volunteers!

Howdy guys!

Fur Affinity United 4, the regions local furry convention, is coming up very quickly! We have about 15 days until the event!

I'm helping out with what I can at the event and I've recently been approached to ask if I can help the volunteering section out!

Every convention needs volunteers, they help watch over headless lounges, check badges, and are all around helpful folks! FAU is no different and with it coming up so fast we want to make sure we have enough help to make the convention a success!

Of course there are perks to advertising other than that warm fuzzy feeling!

You can get a t-shirt for 4 hours.

You can get a free registration for FAU:5 after dedicating 8 hours!

And you get a free super sponsorship for FAU:5 if you dedicate a whopping 12 hours, and you still get the shirt!

All that for helping us make a great con for the regional furs! It's a win/win!

If you want to lend a paw and get a free shirt in the process please send an e-mail to volunteers@faunited.org. This will get directly to the folks that can help put you in the fast lane to helping out the con!

Looking forward to seeing you there guys and hope you can help us out!

For more info check out the official con website here: http://www.faunited.org/volunteer_information.html

Tax Time!

The USPS will NOT be running late hours tonight to deal with the expected crush of last minute filers.

The latest post offices in the area to get that critical post mark are the main branch on California Ave near Brighton Rd. They're open both for the boxes in the parking lot, the boxes in the lobby. and the counters inside until 7 pm. As close to 7pm as possible they'll collect the mail and tax forms dropped at 7:15 will be postmarked TOMORROW. Other post offices close at 5 or 6 pm and boxes may have a last pickup as early as 11:00 am!

So if you don't make it to California by 7pm your only choice is the US Postal Annex on the back side of the Pittsburgh International Airport. They are open 24/7 but really exist to move mail containers on and off cargo planes, but there IS a customer counter. It might take a while to get their attention, but they can manually cancel the envelope. Be sure you already have sufficient postage as I would NOT count on any stamps being there or your "customer service" (Freight handler) agent being able to run a meter tape.

So get your tax returns filed if you can. If you can't file for an extension and try to make sure you include a check to have at least as much withheld this year as last. (90% of this year's liability is also a "safe harbor" but is harder to figure if you haven't done your taxes.) Also due are 1st quarter estimated taxes and tonight is the last chance to file for 2007 and claim a refund.

Whew, that's over with for another year!

Looking for a room to rent in Robinson area

I am actively in the market for a room to rent in an apartment or house in the Robinson area. This includes Moon, Carnegie, Imperial, Crafton, Findlay, and all surrounding areas. My budget is $400 a month, and I can pay 2 months in advance.

I'm likely one of the easiest roommates you'll ever have because I work 7 days a week, and just need a place to lay my head between shifts. The closer to my job in Robinson, the better, though Carnegie works because that's where my second job is.

I am 37, male, non-smoker, social drinker, no drugs, a bit of a slob but I keep it to my space, respect other's privacy and space.

If I sound like a candidate, or you want to make a few extra bucks this spring, feel free to drop me a PM here or on my email at thrashbearATyahoo.com. Thanks for reading.
